CLIREN Privacy Policy

Effective 14 October 2026. CLIREN Centre respects the privacy of community members, learners, customers and website visitors. This notice explains how we handle personal information across cliren.org and learn.cliren.org.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide when creating an account, joining the community, registering for learning or events, placing an order, or making an enquiry. This may include your name, email, organisation, professional background, preferences, order records and learning activity. We also process limited security and technical logs, device/browser information, cookies and campaign attribution.

How we use information

We use personal information to provide accounts, membership, learning, events, support and contracted services; verify identity and payments; communicate service information; maintain security and audit records; improve our services; and send optional marketing where you have consented. We do not place participant-identifiable research data in general marketing systems.

Lawful handling and sharing

Processing is based on the service you request, CLIREN’s legitimate operational and security interests, legal obligations, or your consent where required. We share only what is necessary with authorised service providers such as hosting, email, analytics and payment processors, or with authorities where legally required. Research-service controller and processor responsibilities are defined in the applicable contract.

Retention and security

We retain records only for the account, learning, contractual, audit, tax, dispute and legal periods that apply. Access is restricted by role and protected with reasonable technical and organisational controls. No online service can promise absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You may update communication preferences, unsubscribe from optional messages, and request access, correction, objection, restriction, portability or deletion where applicable under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Some records must be retained for legal, financial, academic-integrity or security reasons.
